Storm squeezes past Blaze, 5-4

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

B.J. Guinn laid down a successful squeeze bunt in the ninth inning Sunday to score Jace Peterson and lead the Lake Elsinore Storm to a 5-4 victory over the Bakersfield Blaze at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

Bakersfield settled for the four-game series split despite collecting six extra-base hits (four doubles, a Marquez Smith homer and a Yorman Rodriguez triple), compared to none for the Storm.

Smith's homer, a two-run blast in the fifth inning, tied the game 4-4. It was his second homer in as many days.

Kyle Lotzkar allowed one run over the final two innings to take the loss. Blaze starter James Allen allowed four runs (three earned) in five innings.
