VISALIA -- Juan Duran walked twice and belted a first-inning, two-run homer to help the Blaze beat the Visalia Rawhide, 8-2, in their penultimate game of the season Sunday.
It was Duran's only hit of the game, but he scored one other time on a walk in the eighth inning.
Bakersfield got three runs in the first inning and never looked back. The top of the lineup did much of the damage: Junior Arias and Juan Perez, batting Nos. 1 and 2 respectively, each had three hits with a triple. Arias batted in one run and scored twice, while Perez scored once and batted in two runs. Bakersfield finished 5 for 9 with runners in scoring position.
Starter Jake Johnson (7-6) pitched six solid innings, allowing two earned runs while striking out five.
Bakersfield's Brent Peterson was 2 for 3 with a run scored.
The Blaze finish the season Monday against Visalia at 2 p.m.
