"There's something majestic about it."

No mater how many games he's been to, that's what Dan Besbris, director of broadcasting for the Bakersfield Blaze, said of walking into a ballpark for a game.

Besbris appeared Tuesday on "First Look with Scott Cox" to talk about Blaze opening day -- the road opener is this Thursday against the Stockton Ports, and the home opener is the following Thursday, April 11, and it's nearly a sellout.

Show host Scott Cox scored some points with Besbris, saying, "I like Minor League Baseball more than Major League Baseball."

"Good!" Besbris shot back.

How's the team this year, Cox asked.

"They actually look pretty darn good," Besbris said.

He noted the season is filled with promotions -- everything from giveaways on Saturdays to fireworks on Fridays. Besbris said they tend to get one complaint about fireworks per Friday, but figures 99 percent of the people like the show.

Talk turned to plans for a new stadium at the Bakersfield Commons project at Coffee and Brimhall roads.

"We are pretty excited about everything going on," Besbris said of the plans to replace the Blaze's current digs at Sam Lynn Ballpark.
