Jam rallies from 32 down, beats D-Fenders, 109-100

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

The Bakersfield Jam suffered through perhaps its worst quarter of the season Sunday, managing just 12 points in the first period.

But coach Will Voigt's squad more than made up for it.

With Jerel McNeal leading the way, making 5-of-9 shots from 3-point range, scoring 22 points and dishing 11 assists, the Jam rallied from a 32-point deficit to beat the Los Angeles D-Fenders 109-100 at the Dignity Health Event Center.

Bakersfield (32-13) shot only 13 percent in the opening quarter and trailed 28-12. Los Angeles (19-26) stretched the lead to 32 in the second quarter.

But the Jam defense stepped up and limited the D-Fenders to just 28 percent shooting from the floor in the second half.

Stephen Dennis scored 20 points off the bench for Bakersfield. James Nunnally posted 16 points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals.

Damion James tallied 13 points and eight rebounds and Adam Koch contributed 12 points and nine rebounds off the bench.

The D-Fenders were paced by Courtney Fortson with 35 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
