Stephenson powers Blaze

MODESTO -- Top Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Robert Stephenson won his first game for the Bakersfield Blaze Wednesday night in an 11-2 win over the Modesto Nuts.

Stephenson (1-1), in his second Blaze appearance, struck out six, walked none and allowed six hits and one earned run in 6-1/3 innings.

Kyle Waldrop had a double, triple and home run and scored three runs to lead a 14-hit attack for the Blaze.

Sound beaten 9-2

COMPTON _ The MLB Academy Barons handed the Bakersfield Sound a 9-2 loss. Raul Camacho and Greg Younger had singles and scored the Sound runs.
