Local baseball: Blaze allows 6 runs in 9th, falls to Storm

A three-run homer by Lake Elsinore's Jeremy Baltz highlighted a six-run ninth inning that fueled the Storm's 8-5 victory over the Blaze in a California League baseball game Friday at Sam Lynn Ballpark.

A solo home run by Steve Selsky in the sixth inning helped Bakersfield to a 5-0 lead.

The Storm also got a solo home run form Austin Hedges in the seventh inning.

Blaze starter Shane Dyer allowed only one earned run and four hits in seven innings. He struck out three and walked one. Losing pitcher Carlos Gonzales (2-2) was charged with four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning.

Ryan Wright, Juan Silverio and Juan Perez had two hits apiece for Bakersfield. Wright had two RBIs. Perez had a triple. Dan Cortes (1-0) pitched a scoreless 8th for the victory, and Dennis O'Grady worked a scoreless ninth for a save for the Storm.

Sound falls to Legends

Danny Miller had two hits and three RBIs to lead the Menlo Park Legends to a 5-4 victory over the Bakersfield Sound in a California Collegiate League summer baseball game at Bakersfield Christian High School.

John Crummy led Bakersfield with two hits.
