Montes signs deal to race on NASCAR K&N West Series

Bakersfield's Dallas Montes has signed with NTS Motorsports and will be competing full time on the NASCAR K&N West Pro Series in 2013.
Montes, 19, is coming off a solid 2012 campaign where he won his first Late Model race in and finished second in points in the Coors Light Open Late Model Series at Madera Speedway. He made three starts in the K&N West where he qualified second and finished second in his series debut in Albuquerque, N.M. He followed that That with an eighth place finish at Roseville and an 11th at Phoenix.
“In 2012 my goal was to get into victory lane and make some starts in the K&N series and show I can drive at that level,” Montes said in a release. “I was able to do that and then this deal fell into place. This is by far the best opportunity of my racing career and I can't wait to get back to Phoenix. In my three starts I drove for three different teams so I am really looking forward to working with one team.”
NASCAR announced recently that the K&N West Series will race in Bakersfield next October at the new Kern County Raceway under construction near Interstate 5 and Enos Lane.
Bakersfield-based NTS is owned by Bob Newberry. NTS recently announced a partnership with Joe Denette Motorsports to field a three-driver team on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and with Newberry's son, Brennen and four-time series winner Ron Hornaday driving. The driver for the third truck has not been announced although Kevin Harvick is slated to compete in one race.
The Truck series team is based out of the former Kevin Harvick Inc., shop in Kernersville, N.C. NTS houses the West team as well as a Spears SRL team out of Bakersfield.
“We are growing by leaps and bounds and the signing of Dallas is just another step in what NTS is trying to accomplish,” Bob Newberry said in a statement. “We are gong to provide hm with great people and equipment ad let him go out and compete for wins.”
