152: Isiah Martinez, Lemoore, dec. Kyle Perreault, Clovis East, 12-5
113: Jonas Gaytan, Clovis, dec. Mason Pengilly, Porterville, 5-0

UPDATED, 7:23 p.m.: The last final of the night will be at 113 pounds, where Clovis' Jonas Gaytan is ranked No. 1 in the state but Porterville's Mason Pengilly, ranked No. 4, is the No. 1 seed. It's Gaytan that gets the early takedown for a 2-0 lead. Clovis going for its seventh championship tonight. Pretty astounding for a tournament of this caliber.
Stepped away for a minute, but it's still 2-0 as the second period ends. I believe Gaytan actually chose neutral here, but he doesn't score from it. Take that back. Must have been Pengilly who chose neutral, because Gaytan takes bottom to start the third. Still 2-0. Not sure why Pengilly would have done that, but he's in a pickle now.
Escape for Gaytan, and now another takedown. 5-0 now. Gaytan looking to join his brother with a state title this year, and he's looked the part this weekend. Dominant performance in the final, and a dominant performance all weekend from Clovis, which takes a 5-0 victory here and scores a whopping total of 361 points. Bakersfield was second but left in the dust at 237.5 points.
Hope you enjoyed the live blog this weekend. Check tomorrow's Californian for final team scores and more coverage.

UPDATED, 7:14 p.m.: Kyle Perreault has one of the day's biggest upsets, with a third-period pin of Coleman Hammond in the 152-pound semifinals. But his finals opponent is a whole nother animal: Defending state champion Isiah Martinez of Lemoore. But Perreault is a solid, tough wrestler, and he keeps Martinez at bay in the first period. 0-0.
Martinez bottom for the second, and he rolls a granby through to a reversal. Lets Perreault go and then finishes a double-leg takedown with power — but the refs rule they were out of bounds first. No takedown. Lemoore coaches upset again. This time, they'll reverse the call. Takedown and a 4-1 lead. They restart, and Martinez is after a tilt. Uh oh! He leaned too far over and Perreault briefly had him in a headlock. But Martinez fights out of it and maintains control. Escape Perreault and now another takedown for Martinez and a 6-2 lead. Another escape. And now Perreault falls down hurt. Not sure what happened. He fell to his stomach with a groan and Martinez on top for another takedown. Action stopped for an injury timeout. Still not sure what happened, but I know Martinez is not a fun guy to wrestle. Perreault's nose bleeding. Must have gotten it hit somehow. 8-3 is the lead as we restart with 8.3 seconds to go. The period ends that way.
Perreault down, and Martinez gives him an escape. 8-4. Points are important for Lemoore right now — the Tigers need a major decision here to equal Clovis West for third place. A tech fall or pin would put Lemoore back in third by itself. But we're a ways from that now. Into the final minute, still 8-4. There's a takedown for Martinez and a 10-4 lead. He needs to win by eight to tie his team with Clovis West for third. Lets Perreault up. 10-5. Only 30 seconds left. Don't think it's going to happen. Martinez gets another takedown as time expires, so it's a 12-5 final, but that's only four team points, and Clovis West will hold on to third place., 177.5-176.5. One final to go.

UPDATED, 7:02 p.m.: Quick takedown for the first hometown wrestler to take the mat, Lemoore's Osamuyimen Osunde at 145 pounds. Bakersfield's Maxx Ramirez counters with an escape to make it 2-1, and now he has a good shot. But Osunde scrambles. But in the final seconds, Ramirez gets control and takes a 3-2 lead. Lemoore coaches didn't like the call, didn't think Ramirez had control when the clock ran out. Refs discuss it, but the call stands. Some boos from the home crowd.
Ramirez will go down in the second and quickly escapes for a 4-2 lead. He shoots an outside single and gets a takedown. That was a very, very quick call, and now the Lemoore head coach is really fired up. Osunde backed away from Ramirez almost immediately and was given an escape. Call will stand again, and now a coaching misconduct call on Lemoore's head coach. Double-leg for Ramirez and now a no-arguments takedown. 8-3 Ramirez. Eventful first minute to this period. Now a fired-up crowd calling for stalling on Ramirez, and they eventually get their wish. Ramirez lets Osunde go and the lead is 8-4.
Third period, and Osunde chooses top? Interesting, but it gives Ramirez another quick escape and a 9-4 lead. Now a takedown for Osunde. 9-6. Still a lot of time left. Ramirez escapes, 10-6. Final minute. Nice duck-under from Ramirez into a shot, but stalemate called. Restart, 27 seconds left. Osunde stood up almost all the way, and Ramirez made him pay. Easy takedown there, and after an escape the final will be 12-7 for Maxx Ramirez.

UPDATED, 6:52 p.m.: Now a match many of us have been looking forward to all weekend, Bakersfield's Silas Nacita against Clovis' Zach Nevills in the 170-pound final. Good action from the get-go, as Nevills and Nacita both trade near takedowns before a stalemate is called after about 45 seconds. I believe these two have split meetings this year, with Nevills beating Nacita at the Doc Buchanan, Nacita's first tournament back from football season, and Nacita returning the favor at Temecula Valley. Nacita now ranked No. 1 in the state with only the one loss. The first period will end scoreless here. Nevills probably slightly more aggressive there.
Nacita will go down first. He's headed to Cornell to play football, though the wrestling coaches there would like to get him in the room, too. Caution on each man here. They're jumpy. Now a second caution on Nevills. It's almost like they think the ref is going to blow the whistle before he does. Nacita escapes when we finally restart and leads 1-0. Nevills shoots but Nacita sprawls. Another shot. Nevills definitely the aggressor in this one now. Now a Nacita shot, but it was half-hearted. Nevills in on a high crotch, but Nacita sprawled in time. Stalemate. 1:11 left in the second, still 1-0. Nacita very good from top, so the pressure is on Nevills to a certain extent here. He has to score here or get an escape in the third. Final 30 seconds. Nacita very sound position-wise. Nevills keeps shooting. Have to commend him for pushing the action here, but Nacita is doing enough to avoid a stalling call, and the clock will expire.
Nevills down in the third. He's to a tripod and now his feet and out. 1-1, didn't take long. Now perhaps the best shot of the match from Nevills, but Nacita grabs his leg and almost has this locked into a cradle. Takedown Nacita. Still looking for the cradle. Again, his solid position pays off. Nevills fights away the cradle, but it's 3-1. Now Nevills escapes. 3-2, 40 seconds left. Now Nevills shoots agai, and this time he winds up with the cradle! Takedown and a 4-3 lead. Time running low on Nacita. Now two nearfall as well. 6-3 Nevills with a big finish. Six championships for Clovis.

UPDATED, 6:43 p.m.: Now three Bakersfield High wrestlers in a row. Natrelle Demison, the top seed, faces Buchanan's Racelis Cardenas, the No. 3 seed. Not a whole lot of action in this first period. Both guys took a few shots but weren't close to deep on any of them. Scoreless as we head to the second.
Cardenas down first. He's to his feet and dragged back down, and then a repeat of that. Demison having trouble keeping him down, though. Now he's got the tilt he was looking for. Got it in tight, and that'll be three nearfall. That's the Drillers' go-to move, and it works for a 3-0 Demison lead here. Now Cardenas to his feet, but again Demison takes him back down. Cardenas just can't seem to get enough leverage to turn that stand-up into an escape. He finally gets up and turned around in the final seconds of the second, but Demison drives him back down and will take his 3-0 lead into the third period.
Demison down now. Cardenas gives him an escape for a 4-0 deficit. Now he's got to hope to do something from neutral. Outside single from Demison and a beauty. He can't quite finish as Cardenas flees the mat, but that's a technical violation and a point anyway. 5-0 now. Front headlock for Cardenas, but nothing doing. Shot from Demison, and Cardenas is called for stalling. 30 seconds left. Single-leg for Demison, pushes Cardenas down and has the takedown. 7-0 now. Escape Cardenas puts him on the board, but that's just so that Demison can finish one more double and get a major decision, 9-1. Good performance from the guy they call Chewy.

UPDATED, 6:33 p.m.: Clovis' Dakota Gordon and Frontier's Jack Murphy at 195 pounds. Four Kern County finalists in a row here, and Murphy starts it off with a bang. He shoots a beautiful high crotch and takes Gordon, the top seed, to his back. Gordon fights off quickly, but that's two nearfall and a 4-0 lead for Murphy. Escape Gordon makes it 4-1. Now not so much action from neutral after Murphy's bang-a-rang start. Front headlock for both guys. NIce high crotch from Gordon there results in a takedown and cuts the lead to 4-3. Final 20 seconds. Escape would be important for Murphy, but they go out of bounds with 5 ticks. Won't get it and settles for a 4-3 lead after one.
Murphy's choice, and he goes bottom. Gets to a tripod but Gordon breaks him back down. Murphy needs to score from bottom if he wants to hang onto a lead here, because Gordon will go bottom in the third, and he's had no trouble getting out. Instead, Gordon about to turn Murphy. The Titan fights it off and gets back to his knees. Gordon working for a tilt now. He's close to it. Now nearfall being called. He'll get three points. Murphy's fast start has been erased. Nice work by Gordon, who leads 6-4 after two.
Gordon down for the third. He escapes and leads 7-4. Murphy needs another takedown to the back here, but he won't surprise Gordon like that again, I wouldn't think. Working on the head instead. Instead it's a headlock for Gordon. Murphy to his back. Pinned! That happened fast. So much for Murphy's fast start — he becomes the first pin victim of the finals, at 4:53.

UPDATED, 6:25 p.m.: Now the 182-pound final between defending state 171-pound champion Nikko Reyes and Clovis' Ryan Davies. The Golden Eagles looking for their third straight championship. They've surged into third place in the team standings, at least for the moment, though Lemoore can claim it back with victories in its two championships no matter what Reyes does here.
He has a takedown about a minute and a half in and leads 2-0 after a period. Very aggressive wrestler headed to Illinois on scholarship next year.
Davies chooses down for the second period. Reyes nearly had a pinning combo locked up, but he gives up on it and lets Davies go so he can work from neutral again. Lead is 2-1. Davies shoots off a restart, and I think it caught Reyes by surprise, but he just kind of pushed him away with no troubles. Kid is so, so strong. Davies is hanging tough, though. He hasn't come particularly close to a takedown of his own, but he's only down 2-1 after two.
Now Reyes will choose neutral. He won't give Davies a chance to work from neutral. A conservative plan but not a bad one, considering Davies hasn't done much against him from his feet. Lightning-fast fireman's shot for Reyes, but Davies hugs him and holds on. He's in an awkward position but isn't budging, and we have a stalemate. A minute left now. Now Reyes is warned for stalling! He was backing up, but he's not used to that kind of thing. Usually the aggressor. Another stalling call would tie the match, but now Reyes is getting back after it. He shoots and they go out of bounds with 25 seconds left. Now a good single-leg shot from Davies. He was in deep on that, but Reyes fights him off. Final 10 seconds. That'll do it. Much closer than anticipated, but Nikko Reyes wins it 2-1.

UPDATED, 6:15 p.m.: Good scramble early in the 126-pound final between Clovis' Vicente Hernandez and Clovis West's Michael Knoblauch. Both were close to takedowns but go out of bounds with no points. Hernandez now has a leg and is trying to suck in the other. He does and keeps his toes in bounds. Takedown, even as Knoblauch was sitting on the gym floor off the mat. 2-0 lead for Hernandez, who beat Knoblauch in the TRAC finals last week. First period will end with the score 2-0.
Knoblauch's choice, and he wants neutral. And this time he shoots very quickly and has his takedown. Nice drive to finish that double-leg. 2-2. He'll give Hernandez neutral and make it 3-2. Now another driving double for Knoblauch, who leads 4-3. He might have figured something out here. He lets Hernandez go again to tie the match. Can he get another? Now works on the nearside single, but this time Hernandez sprawls in time and nearly flips Knoblauch onto his back. They roll out of bounds first. No points, still 4-4. Hernandez ready to do some shooting of his own. Now a beautiful fireman's shot from Knoblauch. Man, that was explosive. He has his third takedown of the period and leads 6-4. 30 seconds left now. Will Knoblauch let him go again? Yes, with 15 ticks left. Knoblauch will lead 6-5 after two and has to have a lot of confidence going to the third.
Hernandez will take bottom with an eye on tying the match. In fact, Knoblauch chooses neutral for a point. 6-6. Two minutes to go. Double from KNoblauch again, but Hernandez bear-hugs him and tries to scramble. Knoblauch's drive too much. Another takedown. 8-6 Clovis West. Now Knoblauch has the cradle locked up! Hernandez rolls out of bounds but not before two nearfall points called. 10-6 Knoblauch as we restart with 1:09 left. Quick reversal Hernandez. 10-8. Wonder if Knoblauch should have let him up there and worked from neutral again. Instead, he's got the dangerous rider Hernandez on top. Final 30 seconds. Hernandez needs to turn him. Stalling on Knoblauch, but that's only the first warning. 10 seconds. Stalling again in the final seconds will give Hernandez a point, but it's not enough. 10-9 the final for Knoblauch, who reverses last week's result.

UPDATED, 6:05 p.m.: At 220 pounds, top seed Arnold Salinas of Fresno faces a surprise finalist, sixth-seeded Cortes Morales of Clovis West. It's Morales who's the aggressor in the first period and actually nearly comes up with a takedown late, but we'll go to the second period scoreless.
Morales chooses bottom. He has his legs out but can't spin around Salinas, who is back on top and in control. It takes Morales about a minute to work an escape for a 1-0 lead. That's how the second period will end.
Now Salinas bottom, and as he tires to spin away, Morales catches him and briefly puts him on his back! That's two nearfall points and a 3-0 lead for Morales. Upset really brewing now. Salinas needs to get out and keep scoring. He works the escape to make it 3-1. 1:30 left. Salinas will have to get aggressive for the takedown here. Wild shot, Morales sprawls and spins for his own takedown. Wow. 5-1 lead, now 5-2 after another escape. What a performance this weekend from Cortes Morales, who already has taken out the Nos. 2 and 3 seeds this weekend. Going for the trifecta here. Final 20 seconds. Would take a miracle for Salinas now. Not going to happen. Cortes Morales your 220-pound champion as a No. 6 seed. How about that?

UPDATED, 5:57 p.m.: Two guys who are really familiar with one another in the 120-pound final, Clovis' Daniel Gaytan — the state champ at 119 last year — and Clovis West's Brandon Rodriguez. Takedown for Gaytan in the first minute and a 2-0 lead. He's had the better of this matchup more often than not. Rodriguez escapes and trails 2-1. But Gaytan sprawls on a bad shot and shucks Rodriguez by for another takedown and a 4-1 lead. Clovis 3-for-3 in finals and looking to go 4-for-4 in this one. Rodriguez tries a switch and ends up standing up to cut the lead back to two. The first period will end with Gaytan ahead 4-2.
Rodriguez chooses bottom. Had a chance to defer there and didn't. Wanted to be bottom first. We'll see if there's anything to that. Gaytan quickly locks up a chicken wing, though now Rodriguez is up to his feet. Gaytan didn't lose control, though, before they go out of bounds. Rodriguez easy stand-up off the restart, and it's 4-3. Key minute in this match coming up. Not a great shot from Gaytan, but he re-shoots before Rodriguez can get away and has the takedown. Now Rodriguez in a bad spot. Rolled onto his back. Nearfall count. No pin, but that important minute went decidedly Gaytan's way. He leads 9-3 going to the third.
Gaytan chooses neutral and works a takedown. First bonus points of the finals could be coming up. It's a major decision right now already. Rodriguez works to his feet a couple of times, but that's how it's going to end. 11-3 final for Daniel Gaytan and four titles for Clovis.

UPDATED, 5:48 p.m.: Rudy Amaya of Foothill has spent most of the year at 220 pounds and comes into this heavyweight final 25-0. But he hasn't faced anyone like Nick Nevills of Clovis, a man-child who did the unthinkable last year — won a heavyweight state championship as a freshman. Could he go four-time? Bit early to talk about that, but he does have the early takedown on Amaya. 2-0 lead, and he'll ride hard on the ankle for most of the rest of the period. 2-0 after one.
Nevills chooses bottom for the second. Quickly stands up and escapes for a 3-0 lead. And here's a takedown for Amaya! Nice throw-by and the Trojan does what not many can do. Nevills works another escape and still leads, 4-2. Now Nevills works the high single, and eventually works Amaya to the mat. 6-2 and the defending champ has restored order. That's the end of the second period.
Amaya down for the third, but he hasn't been close to getting out thus far. Not here, either. Nevills' varied pinning combinations aren't getting very far, but he's not letting Amaya go anywhere, either. Into the final minute. Amaya finally works to his feet and actually drives into a reversal in the final seconds. 6-4 the final. Not sure it was actually that close, but that's still a really good effort from Amaya in his first match against Nevills.

UPDATED, 5:40 p.m.: Miguel Martinez of Madera is the top seed at 106 pounds; he takes on the No. 2 seed, Adrian Camposano of Central, in the final. Martinez with a nice fireman's shot to begin things, but Camposano scrambled out of it and avoided the takedown. Now a sort of arm drag for Martinez, but Camposano scrambles well again and nearly gets control of his own. Great action here, and Martinez ducks out again and has the takedown late in the period. The best wrestlers are usually the best scramblers, and that was good stuff. 2-0 for Martinez after one.
Martinez bottom for the second and quickly gets to his feet. Camposano climbs up his back and forces Martinez to a tripod and now back to the mat. But he's really high; Martinez trying to shake him off his head and will do so. Reversal and a 4-0 lead. Martinez a great scrambler. Now a tripod for Camposano, but Martinez locks up a cradle and flips him quickly back to the mat. Camposano breaks the lock but not before three nearfall points and a commanding 7-0 lead. Camposano needs something to happen, and now it does. Martinez loses his balance off top, and Camposano has a reversal for 7-2. That'll be the score after two.
Camposano bottom for the third. Martinez will give him neutral for a point, and it's 7-3. Wild shot from Camposano easily deflected, and Martinez locks up a headlock and hangs on. But now he slips on the mat! Gimme takedown for Camposano cuts the lead to 7-5, and things are getting tight. Camposano riding hard on the shoulders. Martinez is hurt. Potentially dangerous call stops the action and Martinez is kicking the mat and holding his left shoulder. Injury time. Now we're back at it. Martinez appears to be OK and proves it by working a reversal and driving Camposano to his back. Two nearfall points make it 11-5 into the final 30 seconds. Camposano escapes, but here's another takedown late, and time runs out on a 13-6 victory for Miguel Martinez.

UPDATED, 5:29 p.m.: Up next is Bakersfield High's first final, though they'll have to wait for the other three, which are right in a row towards the end of the night. This one is A.J. Fierro, a surprise finalist at 160 and a decided underdog to Clovis' Adrian Salas, who is ranked second in the state.
But Fierro looks like he belongs in the first period, a careful feeling-out process for both guys. Scoreless we go to the second, where Salas will choose down. He quickly escapes for 1-0 and now has the match's first takedown to make it 3-0 about 30 seconds in. Now Salas has Fierro's arm locked behind his back, but just as he's ready for the turn, Fierro pops out of it. Now Salas working for the cradle. Fierro hanging tough on bottom but not able to get up to his knees, either. Clock will expire on a 3-0 lead for Salas after two.
Fierro will choose neutral in the third. Didn't want to go back bottom, but this makes it difficult to find a road to three points, too. That's especially true now that Salas has a reverse single-leg takedown for a 5-0 advantage. Salas took his time getting going in this match, but now he's got it going. He'll ride out the clock with no troubles. 5-0 the final, and that's two champions (and probably counting) for mighty Clovis.

UPDATED, 5:21 p.m.: The order of our finals is now listed above. First up is Porterville's Martin Sandoval, who upset the top seed at 138 pounds, against Clovis' Matt Gay. The top seed was Clovis East's Patrick Phaysamone, who beat Gay at last week's TRAC finals, so this is an opportunity for Gay to win a title without having to go through Phaysamone.
Gay gets the first takedown and briefly has a cradle locked up before settling for a 2-0 lead, but now Sandoval has a quick reversal. We're tied 2-2. Gaytan tries to roll out off a restart, and he has the reversal back. 4-2. Sandoval manages an escape in the final 15 seconds to cut the lead to 4-3 after one.
Sandoval will choose bottom. He quickly has another reversal and his first lead at 5-4. Entertaining match thus far. Now Sandoval would like to settle things down from the top. Gay tries to roll out and Sandoval goes with him. Now Gay stops messing around and goe sto the stand-up, but Sandoval drags him back down. Good match wrestled by Sandoval thus far. Re-start with 24 seconds left in the period. Gay gets the escape out of the restart and ties it at 5. Now Sandoval shoots and nearly has a takedown, but the clock runs out first. 5-5 after two.
Gay down for the third. He had to work to get out in the second period. Now Sandoval trying to drag Gay onto his back, but no nearfall given, and he's back to his belly. Sandoval works his legs in. Stalemate eventually called with 1:06 to go. Gay gets the escape at about 45 seconds. That was a gamble from Sandoval, because now he doesn't have much time to get the takedown. But a good shot, and he's in deep on Gay. Gay sprawls. Good sprawl. Now he pushes Sandoval over on his back and gets the takedown himself, plus some nearfall! Great finish for Matt Gay, and he takes an 11-5 decision.
