UPDATED, 2:09 a.m.: My apologies again about the connectivity issues that forced us to abandon the live blog and the live stream tonight. It's one of the few times I haven't been able to live blog in my career at The Californian, so it's a bitter pill to swallow. But we'll have the Wasco-Bakersfield Christian replay available some time this weekend, so not all is lost. We also have full coverage in tomorrow's Californian and a replay of tonight's BVarsity Live available.
I'll end the night with a quick stock report on a crazy week of high school football. Look for the full Week 7 recap on Sunday evening.
Trending up: Bakersfield Christian, Stockdale, Ridgeview, Bakersfield, East, West, Chavez, Kennedy
Holding steady: Garces, North, Liberty, Frontier, Tehachapi, Highland
Trending down: Wasco, Centennial, South, Independence, Foothill, Golden Valley, Taft
UPDATED, 11:27 p.m.: Back in the office and back connected to the internet. BVarsity Live is streaming live now until 12:30 a.m. on bakersfield.com. I've also updated a bunch of scores below.
UPDATED, 7:40 p.m.: I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but some serious internet connectivity issues are going to make both the live blog and the live broadcast unavailable tonight. I will be tweeting updates on my phone both from this game and other scores I get. You can follow me @zewing. But all I have is my phone, and live-blogging on my phone is a no-go. So follow on Twitter, and we'll have a replay of the broadcast up later.
ORIGINAL POST: It's a busy day in the Central Section football world, and at least two league titles appear to be on the line in Kern County: Wasco at Bakersfield Christian for control of the South Sequoia League race, and South at Ridgeview for the same in the South Yosemite League.
The Southwest Yosemite League has a couple of good ones, too, with Frontier heading to Liberty and Centennial at Stockdale. Bakersfield, fresh off its convincing win at Liberty last week, is at Independence.
We'll bring you Wasco-BCHS live tonight starting at about 7 (kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 but, as always, is contingent on the end of the JV game) on bakersfield.com. I'll have updates throughout the night here as well as scores from around the section.
Speaking of which, there was a big showdown last night, with Central star running back Nick Wilson scoring late to beat Clovis, 13-9. The Grizzlies are now 2-0 in the TRAC and are providing quite a seeding boost to Liberty and the whole SWYL. Remember, the Patriots beat Central on the road in triple overtime, so they figure to be seeded ahead of the Grizzlies no matter how high they finish in the TRAC. It's worth noting Wilson was injured when the teams met, but the result will still stand in seeding discussions.
Of course, Liberty has to keep winning most of its SWYL games to be in the discussion for a top-four seed in the first place. That, among many other things, will be worth keeping an eye on tonight.
When it's all over, come back to bakersfield.com for BVarsity Live starting at 11 p.m. We'll have scores, highlights and analysis, and you can join the fun from anywhere by calling (661) 395-7386.
