BC's Burrell, Dunn will play at Fresno State

Two key members of the state champion Bakersfield College football team are headed to Fresno State -- and one of the top high school players in town sounds like he's joining them.
Renegades quarterback Brian Burrell (from Bakersfield High) and tight end Mike Dunn gave verbal commitments to the Bulldogs on Monday, and Ridgeview senior Kamari Cotton-Moya said he's all but decided he'll join them in Fresno.
Burrell, a Bakersfield High graduate, completed 54.7 percent of his passes this season for 2,555 yards, 27 touchdowns and seven interceptions as BC went 11-2 and won its first official state title.
Because he missed his true freshman season with an injury, Burrell will have three seasons of eligibility remaining at Fresno State. The first will presumably be spent backing up another Bakersfield product, Derek Carr from Bakersfield Christian.
One of Burrell's leading receivers this season was Dunn, a West High graduate who announced his Fresno State commitment Monday via Twitter.
"I just Verbally Committed 2 play football at The University of Fresno St #GoBulldogs," Dunn wrote.
He caught 35 passes for 603 yards and eight touchdowns, including a TD catch in the state championship game.
As for Cotton-Moya, he was in Fresno over the weekend on an official visit but did not commit; however, he said Monday he figured he'd sign with Fresno State on Feb. 6, the first day prep recruits can officially choose a college.
"Fresno's my college," he said. "I'm ready to go. I haven't actually committed to the coaches yet, but I feel like I'm a Bulldog."
Cotton-Moya also has scholarship offers from Iowa State, Nevada and Utah State and interest from several others.
"I don't see any other schools stepping in," he said. "It's pretty much Fresno. I'm just not the type to commit early, but feel like I'm a Bulldog."
Cotton-Moya, who is 6-foot-1, 180 pounds, played quarterback for Ridgeview and led the Wolf Pack to the Central Section Division III title, the first in school history. He ran for 2,258 yards and 27 touchdowns and threw for 1,341 yards and 13 TDs. He's listed as an athlete in his online recruiting profiles and said he hopes to play running back in college.
Verbal commitments are non-binding; junior-college players can sign binding letters of intent beginning Wednesday.
Another Bakersfield College player, defensive back Mercy Maston (Bakersfield High) previously committed to Boise State. College of the Sequoias quarterback Tyler Ferguson (Ridgeview) will sign with Penn State on Wednesday.
Only one local prep recruit has officially committed -- Centennial wide receiver Andrew Daughtery to Air Force.
