After breaking out to a fast start, Stockdale's offense came to a grinding halt when it mattered most.

The Mustangs' offense scored touchdowns on its first three possessions but failed to add any more points the rest of the game in a 34-27 loss to visiting Stockton-St. Mary's Friday night.

David Claiborne scooped up a fumble by Rams' quarterback Kaleb Parrish and raced 60 yards to put the Mustangs up 27-26 with 8:34 left in the game.

But with 2:17 left on the clock Parrish raced 31 yards for the game-winning touchdown.

Parrish completed 18-of-24 passes and 194 yards and three touchdown passes to Jaelin Ratliff to lead the Rams to come-from-behind victory.

Anthony Wood had 15 carries for a 142 yards and two touchdowns for Stockdale, which couldn't convert any of St. Mary's five turnovers during the last 30 minutes into points.

Both teams were unstoppable early on, as five of the game's first six possessions ended with touchdowns.

Parrish capped off St. Mary's first two drives with touchdown passes of 18 and 22 yards to Jaelin Ratliff.

The Mustangs rushed for 140 yards in the first quarter, as Wood capped off Stockdale's first two series with TD runs of 25 and 52 yards.

Wood broke several tackles en route to his second score, which tied the game at 13-13.

The Mustangs then took a 20-13 lead, which they held for the rest of the first half, when David Claiborne took an end around and scampered 35 yards down the left sideline into the end zone with 54 seconds left in the first half.

Stockdale out-gained St. Mary's 250-173 in the first half.
