Saying Liberty High was a quick-scoring team Friday would be an understatement.

The Patriots had three touchdowns after running only five plays from scrimmage and four touchdowns after nine plays en route to a 55-7 win at Ridgeview.

"I think our kids played four quarters this evening," said Liberty coach Bryan Nixon. "We had only one offensive play in the first quarter when our defense was on the field the entire quarter."

This was the final pre-league game for Liberty (5-0). Ridgeview (2-3) has a game at Fresno-Washington Union next week before it starts South Yosemite League play.

"They're a good football team with a lot of good athletes," Ridgeview coach Dennis Manning said. "They're big and physical."

Manning said the Wolf Pack must regroup.

"It's about adversity," he said. "The biggest thing is to circle the wagons and not point fingers at anyone. We've got to get better as a team.

"I thought we'd play better tonight but we didn't."

Liberty quarterback Josh Medina threw a 28-yard touchdown pass to Hanz Harker on the Patriots' first play from scrimmage after Tyson Brewer's 31-yard punt return gave them great field position.

Ridgeview slowed the Liberty attack impressively on its subsequent possession, driving 68 yards on 19 plays that ate up 10:03 of the clock.

Jacob Lopez scored on a 1-yard run to cap a drive that was kept alive by the Wolf Pack going 4-for-4 on fourth-down conversions.

"That was our highlight -- the only positive thing we had tonight," Manning said.

Liberty struck quickly after that and never let up.

"I'm proud of the kids for that," Nixon said. "I'm real proud of our scout team. They don't get a lot of publicity but they did a great job in practice this week getting us ready for this game."

Liberty needed two plays to take the lead for good after Ridgeview's touchdown tied the game 7-7.

Anthony Mariscal's 50-yard TD run with 11:50 left in the second quarter put the Patriots ahead to stay.

Ridgeview went 3-and-out on its next possession, and a bad snap from center in a punting situation gave Liberty a first down on the Ridgeview 10. Two plays later, Quincy Jountti scored from the 1 and it was 20-7.

Medina finished off the first half by throwing two more TD passes, 12 yards to Harker and 28 to Justin Nieto.

Medina was 5-for-5 passing for 111 yards and three touchdowns in the first half.

Jountti had a 10-yard TD run on Liberty's first possession of the third quarter and the Patriots added two more scores in the fourth quarter, a 30-yard interception return by Peyton Soft and a 4-yard TD run by backup running back Chris Haney.

Ridgeview had only three first downs after the first quarter. The Liberty defense held the Wolf Pack to zero net rushing yards and only four net passing yards over the final three quarters.
