If seeds hold, Stockdale will be wearing home whites in Fresno's Selland Arena on March 3 as the Bullpups try to make that streak 97.
First, though, the Mustangs might have to get through rival Centennial, the No. 8 seed, and traditional power Clovis West, seeded fourth.
Despite Hanford's recent history, Stockdale had a pretty good argument for the top seed: The Mustangs are unbeaten in section games this season, too, and their schedule has been a bit tougher than Hanford's.
There was a bit of an eyebrow-raiser on the boys side, too. Bakersfield was given the No. 3 seed despite finishing second to Liberty in the Southwest Yosemite League. The Patriots, who finished 1-2 against BHS overall, were No. 5 and must travel to No. 4 Fresno-Central in Thursday's quarterfinals.
Bakersfield will play host to No. 6 Clovis West in another marquee quarterfinal, while the top two seeds, Fresno-Bullard and Clovis-Buchanan, will be expected to get through to the semifinals.
All section finals will be played March 2-3 in Selland.
Garces' girls are seeded second behind Porterville-Monache in Division II, and Ridgeview and Independence drew the top two seeds in Division III. The Wolf Pack, led by 6-foot-3 standout Erica McCall, beat the Falcons for last year's D-III title.
South Sequoia League champion Shafter is the No. 3 seed in D-III, and Golden Valley is No. 5. All D-III girls teams play first-round games Wednesday leading into Friday's quarterfinals.
East High's boys have won 10 of 11 games, including three tight victories over Garces, and the Blades were rewarded with the No. 3 seed in Division II. The Blades host Lemoore on Thursday. Garces is No. 5 and must travel to Clovis North.
Independence is No. 2 in Division III behind Visalia-Mt. Whitney. Frontier is No. 5, just ahead of South Yosemite League champion Ridgeview and SSL champ Tehachapi, which hosts Highland in Tuesday's first round.
Bakersfield Christian also has a home game in Division IV; the sixth-seeded Eagles play host to No. 11 Lindsay.
