Singles Player of the Year
Gracie Jacobs
Garces * senior * 35-0 singles, 13-0 doubles
After finishing as Central Section singles runner-up for two consecutive years, Jacobs completed her mission this season without as much as a close call; She lost just four games in four matches at the section singles tournament and cruised to the championship, 6-1, 6-0 over Clovis-Buchanan's Megan Lee.
Doubles Team of the Year
Crimson Hochhalter and Riley Tucker
Garces * senior and sophomore * combined 43-1 in doubles
The Rams' Nos. 2 and 3 players formed a formidable duo that took the Central Section doubles title in the Southeast Yosemite League and the Central Section, winning 6-0, 6-2 over a team from Fresno-Bullard in the championship.
First team selections
Isabella Busacca
Liberty * junior * 21-7 singles
Played No. 1 for the Southwest Yosemite League runners-up, then took third in the SWYL tournament and reached the semifinals of area to qualify for the section singles draw for the third straight year. She reached the quarterfinals before falling to Jacobs.
Darian Grisso
Tehachapi * senior * 21-10 singles
The No. 1 for a team that reached the Division II section semifinals, Grisso was the SEYL's runner-up and reached the quarterfinals of the area tournament. She received a wild card draw into the section singles round of 16.
Emily Horrigan
Stockdale * freshman * 30-4 singles
Stockdale's No. 3 player finished No. 2 in the SWYL singles bracket, losing only to teammate Ariana Tilbury 6-4, 7-6 in the championship match. She then reached the area semifinals and section quarterfinals.
Prutha Mehta
Stockdale * senior * 19-5 doubles
Playing at No. 1, Mehta led the Mustangs to the Division I section championship, a 6-3 loss to Clovis-Buchanan. She also played doubles with Claire Heffernan and finished third in the section after a default in the semifinals.
Tara Miller
Bakersfield Christian * senior * 26-6 singles
The South Sequoia League singles champion led the Eagles to their seventh straight section title, this time in Division III. She also received a wild card entry to the section singles round of 16.
Ariana Tilbury
Stockdale * freshman * 29-4 singles
A brilliant debut season as Stockdale's No. 2 included a 15-0 mark in doubles, an SWYL singles championship and a No. 3 seed in the section singles draw. She reached the quarterfinals.
Ali Vaughan
Bakersfield * sophomore * 15-4 doubles
After playing No. 1 for the Drillers all season, Vaughan teamed with Erin Andrew to finish second in the SWYL doubles draw and to reach the area semifinals, qualifying for the section doubles tournament round of 16.
