2012 Girls Golf All-Area Team
Player of the Year
Kaley In, sr, Stockdale
The UC Irvine-bound standout had the low score in three straight postseason weeks, repeating as area champion, leading Stockdale to its first section team championship and then winning the section individual championship in a playoff. In also had a regular-season stroke average of 75.2, lowest in the area.
First team
Janette Chhuon-Chan, soph, East
Second in the Southeast Yosemite League with an 84.5 stroke average, Chhuon-Chan then shot 79 at the area meet to qualify for the section tournament.
Laurynn Maiocco, soph, Bakersfield
All-Southwest Yosemite League selection (87.4 average) led Bakersfield to the Division II area title with an 83, then shot 80 at the section tournament to qualify for the Southern California regional.
Jessica Park, soph, Stockdale
Third in the SWYL with an 84.2 stroke average, Park excelled in the postseason. She shot 81 at area, then 82 at the section team tournament to key the Mustangs' run to the Division I team championship, then a solid 80 at the Southern Cal regional.
Julia Stewart, jr, Bakersfield Christian
The South Sequoia League played two tournaments on a par-64 course in Delano, but Stewart's 79.8 stroke average was still easily better than anyone in Kern County this side of Kaley In. She also shot 77 to finish in a tie for second at the area meet.
