Thanks to an extra-inning rally, Rosamond High beat North, 8-4 in eighth innings, to win the Fifth Annual George Terry Softball Tournament at Wasco High on Saturday.

"We waited for our bats to get going," Rosamond coach Kristen Reader said. "We fought through and found them when we needed them."

The Roadrunners (4-4), led by pitcher McKenzie Draper, scored three runs in top of the eighth to win the game.

"During the rally, our chattering got louder and we really started to believe in each other," Draper said. "It made it easier to hit when we really got behind each other."

Draper, who recorded the win while getting two hits of her own in the game, was also responsible for keeping the Stars (12-2) off the board during extra innings. Despite getting base runners on via walks, the Stars could only muster up one base hit during their final nine at-bats, partially due to Draper's elevated performance during the later innings.

"She gets angry which makes her throw harder," Reader said.

The Stars held the Roadrunners without a run until they walked one in with the bases loaded in the third inning.

At that point, the Stars relieved pitcher Shalldyn Esry by bringing in pitcher Abby Martinez, who did not allow another run until the late-inning rally.

"I was really proud of the way they played," North coach Corrie Gannaway said. "Win or lose, I feel like we're winners just to be here."

Rosamond 8, North 4
