If Stockdale wants to avenge its Central Section Division I girls tennis championship loss to Clovis-Buchanan, the Mustangs will have to go back on the road.

The section commissioners gave Buchanan the No. 1 seed Monday, followed by No. 2 Stockdale, No. 3 Clovis East and No. 4 Clovis West.

The Bears and Mustangs split regular-season meetings; Stockdale won the first, a best-of-nine match that mirrors the playoff format, and Buchanan the second, a Lewis Cup tilt with just six matches played two weeks ago.

Stockdale beat Clovis East in the teams' only meeting; the Timberwolves split with Buchanan.

Fresno-Bullard is seeded fifth, followed by No. 6 Clovis, No. 7 Garces, No. 8 Fresno-Memorial, No. 9 Clovis North, No. 10 Visalia-Redwood, No. 11 Liberty and No. 12 Bakersfield.

The first round is played Thursday, with quarterfinals Oct. 30, semifinals Nov. 6 and finals Nov. 13.

Bakersfield Christian, which has won seven section titles in a row, is the top seed in Division III. The Eagles have a bye until the semifinals. No. 6 Ridgeview will play at No. 3 Highland in the D-III quarterfinals next week.

Frontier is seeded No. 4 in Division II, behind Sanger, Porterville-Monache and Visalia-El Diamante. Tehachapi is No. 11.

Defending champion Taft is seeded No. 3 and Wasco No. 4 in Division IV, behind top seeds Selma and Liberty-Madera Ranchos. Independence is No. 6 and Mira Monte, the South Yosemite League champion, is No. 7 and hosts No. 10 Delano on Thursday.

The individual tennis championships will be seeded Monday. The South Area tournament will follow on Nov. 1-2 at Garces, and the individual section finals are scheduled for Nov. 8-9 at Wasco.
