Runners to follow include defending girls champions Tori Blackmon of Stockdale (SWYL), Sydney Roman of East (SEYL) and Mariah Ayala of Golden Valley (SYL), who will face stiff competition from Ridgeview's Lashya Morgan.
But many eyes also will fixate on the final race of the day. Stockdale junior Blake Haney is the defending champion, but he's only been back from an IT band injury below his left knee for two weeks.
He finished 13th in the Kern County Championships. Instead, his teammate, senior Connor Fisher, might well be the favorite.
Fisher finished third in the race a year ago, part of a 1-2-3-4-5-6 finish for the Mustangs.
The SSL championships begin at 1 p.m. at Wasco.
