Having already locked up a playoff berth, Liberty High closed its regular season with a home victory Friday night, defeating rival Centennial 50-26.
Quarterback Josh Medina threw for almost 200 yards and two touchdowns in the rout, throwing efficiently and completing 13 of 19 pass attempts.
In fact, the senior signal-caller had more yards at the half this week (158) than he had at the end of last week's win over Independence (148).
The Patriots (6-4, 3-2 Southwest Yosemite League) overcame an aggressive running attack by the Golden Hawks, led by Noah Frazier's 144 yards.
Liberty had its offense, defense and special teams all in sync Friday, too, just in time for the postseason.
When the Golden Hawks (2-8, 0-5) mounted a comeback in the third quarter with consecutive touchdowns, the Patriots struck back when Tanner Paddock returned a kickoff 82 yards for a score, putting Liberty up by nine again.
Just four plays later, Kole Harl picked off a Reagan Enger pass and took it 34 yards for another score.
Senior tailback Corbin Jountti eclipsed the century mark in rushing yards yet again, finishing the night with 165 on 21 carries.
He also scored on a 12-yard run, which came after his 46-yard dash to set up the score.
