2013 All-Area boys swimming selections

2013 All-Area Boys Swimming Team

SWIMMER OF THE YEAR

Eric Sande, sr, Stockdale

Won a Central Section Division I title in the 100-yard breaststroke (56.09) and also was part of Stockdale's section champion 200 medley relay team (1:36.03). He took second in the 200 freestyle (1:41.16) and has signed to swim at Big Ten power Minnesota.

DIVER OF THE YEAR

David Hamilton, jr, Stockdale

Southwest Yosemite League champion also finished second in the Division I diving championships with a score of 356.15. No other local diver was higher than 13th in the meet.

FIRST TEAM

Brock Bonetti, jr, Stockdale

One of two Kern County boys to earn an individual Division I section title, Bonetti did it in style, winning the 100 backstroke by nearly three seconds, in 50.74. He also placed third in the 200 IM (1:56.20) and was part of Stockdale's winning medley relay team.

Andrew Hargis, sr, Centennial

Hargis was section runner-up in the 200 IM (1:54.73) and fourth in the 100 freestyle (47.66). He also won three Southwest Yosemite League titles in the 200 IM, the 500 freestyle and as part of the Golden Hawks' 400 free relay team.

Aiden Pike, jr, Highland

Second-time first-teamer was second in the 100 butterfly at the D-II section finals in a time (51.62) that would have been third at the D-I meet. He also won Southeast Yosemite League titles in the 100 fly and 100 backstroke.

Evan Rabanal, soph, Frontier

The SWYL champion in the 100 butterfly was a two-event finalist at the D-I section finals, finishing sixth in the both the 200 IM (2:00.14) and the 100 fly (53.90) within a 30-minute span.

Chris Salcido, soph, Independence

Battled with Hargis all year for the title of Bakersfield's best distance swimmer. He was second in the SWYL in both the 200 free and 500 free, then won the 500 free in 4:41.10 and finished second in the 200 free (1:41.57) at the D-II section finals.

Tyler Stabile, jr, Centennial

Part of a Centennial juggernaut that qualified all of its boys swimmers for the Valley meet, Stabile reached two finals, finishing sixth in the 50 freestyle (22.21) and eighth in the 100 free (48.30).

Alex Treiberg, jr, Centennial

Runner-up to Sande in the breaststroke at both the SWYL meet and in the section finals (59.72), where he was one of just three swimmers under a minute. He also finished 14th in the 100 butterfly (56.27).
