Co-Players of the Year

Lauren O'Connell, Frontier

Senior, defender

Although dangerous on set pieces -- O'Connell scored eight goals -- the Baylor-bound sweeper was the anchor of a defense that didn't allow a goal in 10 Southwest Yosemite League games and only two in three Division II playoff victories.

Hannah Rehkopf, Bakersfield Christian

Junior, forward

Only one girl in California ever has eclipsed Rehkopf's whopping total of 82 goals; she also scored game-winning goals in two of the Eagles' three playoff games en route to a Division IV section title.

First team

Kristin Amarikwa, Frontier

Sophomore, midfielder

Physical presence in the midfield was a playmaker -- 10 goals and 9 assists -- and got back to contribute on defense, too, helping the Titans go unbeaten from early January on.

Morgan Collins, Centennial

Senior, midfielder

All-SWYL player belied her small frame with a big game, scoring 15 goals and recording 9 assists for a Centennial team that finished third in the Southwest Yosemite League.

Erica Delgado, Garces

Junior, midfielder

First-team all-Southeast Yosemite League player helped the Rams to a co-Southeast Yosemite League championship and a runner-up finish in the Division II playoffs. Delgado finished with 7 goals and 15 assists.

Mackenzie Duerksen, Liberty

Senior, midfielder

Controlled possession in the midfield for a Liberty team that was tough to crack -- the Patriots went 7-1-2 in the SWYL and were the only team to earn a point off Frontier, in a 0-0 draw.

Tala Haddad, Stockdale

Senior, forward

Three-time first-team All-Area selection had 16 goals and 12 assists despite much attention from defenders. She led perennial power Stockdale to the Division I quarterfinals.

Kate Hamilton, Garces

Senior, goalkeeper

UC Davis signee was the SEYL's goalkeeper of the year, providing the Rams with shutouts in 17 of 24 games. Athletic and quick in the back, Hamilton also excelled at organizing the Rams' defense.

Paige Jano, Highland

Senior, midfielder

Two-time first-team selection was the co-Offensive MVP of the Southeast Yosemite League after recording 6 goals and 14 assists.

Arielle Joven * Highland

Junior * defender

Scored 3 goals with 5 assists and paced the Scots' defense as they reached their fourth consecutive Central Section Division III championship game. Joven was the co-Defensive MVP of the SEYL.

Lexie Kinney, Liberty

Senior, forward

Scored eight goals and had four assists for a defensive-minded team, often acting as the lone attacking player and holding up the ball until help could arrive. Offensive MVP of the SWYL.

Sabrina Miller, Stockdale

Senior, midfielder

Despite spending most of her time defending, Miller scored 10 goals and had 16 assists against a tough slate of opponents. She was second-team All-Area last year.

Ashley Quintanilla, East

Freshman, defender

Just a freshman, Quintanilla was named co-Defensive MVP of the SEYL after helping the Blades record 21 shutouts and allow only eight goals in 28 games.

Hannah Rogers, Frontier

Junior, defender

Another key Titans defender who contributed to a stingy season: Fifteen goals in 27 games, eight if you throw out a loss to Bullard in which multiple starters didn't play.

Raegan Staib, Bakersfield Christian

Junior, midfielder

Managed to score 18 goals for a team that already had a player scoring 82, and added 11 assists, generally controlling the midfield and organizing attacks that often ended in Rehkopf goals.

Madison Todd, Garces

Senior, forward

The Offensive Player of the Year in the SEYL either scored or had an assist in every game in which she played. She finished with robust totals of 25 goals and 12 assists.
