    At halftime of a close game with Clovis West on Friday, Liberty's players and coaches gathered in their locker room and told themselves they were going to get tougher.

    Then they went and showed it in football's most fundamental way: By dominating the line of scrimmage and grinding out a 21-6 victory over the No. 7-seeded Golden Eagles in the Central Section Division I quarterfinals.

    "We had a little trouble in the first half," sophomore defensive end Kurtis Brown said. "Our coach said, 'If you think you're the better team, go prove it.'"
