    Bakersfield Christian fires football coach Jerald Pierucci after three seasons

    Just 16 months removed from taking the Bakersfield Christian football team to the CIF Division IV state championship bowl game, Jerald Pierucci was fired as head coach on Monday.

    The Eagles went 7-5 and tied for first place in the South Sequoia League with Chavez at last fall. They were 29-11 overall and 16-2 in the SSL in Pierucci's three seasons.

    Pierucci said he was called into the office of BCHS athletic director Blake Van Der Schaaf on Monday and asked to resign. Pierucci said the conversation came about because of conflicts he had with returning players in the program.
