    McKeown to return to BHS as assistant

    Sean McKeown has stepped down as the Independence football coach and accepted a teaching position at Bakersfield High, where he will become an assistant coach for the Drillers.

    McKeown said the decision to step down had everything to do with spending more time with his 7-year old son, and nothing to do with Independence or coaching.

    "The demands of my family no longer allow me to be the head man anymore," McKeown said. "I can no longer devote the amount of hours the kids need in the offseason anymore."

    McKeown said he will become an assistant for BHS, where he was formerly the offensive coordinator for head coach Paul Golla.
