League championships figure to go down to the final week

There is one thing certain in this season of uncertainty. No league titles are clinched with just two weeks left in the regular season for high school football in Kern County.

Golden Valley (5-3, 1-2) earned its first South Yosemite League win of the season with a 13-10 victory over Tehachapi (5-3, 2-1), snapping the Warriors four-game win streak.

Without the services of running back Andrew Dean, who is out for the season with a leg injury, Tyler Watters has stepped up as a dual threat at quarterback for the Bulldogs.

Watters accounted for both touchdowns for Golden Valley with 138 yards passing and a scoring toss to Eddie Pulley, and ran for another 93 yards and a score.

    Cabezuela leads Wasco

TAFT -- It wasn't pretty, but for Wasco coach Rusvel Prado, pretty doesn't win football games. The Tigers beat Taft 24-3 to remain in the hunt for the South Sequoia League title. "It doesn't really matter how you get the 'W' as long as...

    Drillers pull away from Hawks
