Newberry to compete full time in World Truck Series in 2013

Bakersfield's Brennan Newberry will compete full time on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2013 with Ron Hornaday as his teammate and Bakersfield native Kevin Harvick slated to compete in two races in a third truck.
The new three-truck team came about as Joe Denette Motorsports, for whom Hornaday drove last season, has merged with NTS Motorsports, owned by Bob Newberry, Brennan's father.
"This is a monumental next chapter of NTS Motorsports," said Bob Newberry said in a release. "The team just completed our 12th year in the sport but with all the changes, 2013 should prove to be our best year so far."
Joe Denette remains owner of Hornaday's No. 9 Chevrolet and Bob Newberry will continue as owner of the No. 14. The two will become co-owners of the No. 24 entry with a driver to be named later.
Newberry, 22, competed in 10 truck races last season with a best finish of 19th. Hornaday is a four-time truck series champions (the last coming in 2009). He had two wins and finished 13th in points last season.
"I am just so excited for the opportunity that 2013 brings in my first full season in the truck series," Brennan Newberry said. "To be able to work with Dan Deeringhoff as my crew chief for the second year in a row, the opportunity to work with veteran and proven champion, Ron Hornaday, to learn and gain knowledge from our new director of competition, Bruce Cook, and the amazing opportunity to be working out of the same shop that Kevin Harvick Inc. became so successful in, is a dream come true."
NTS Motorsports will operate out of the former Kevin Harvick Inc. shop in Kernersville, N.C. Bob Newberry and Wes Furrh jointly purchased the property in November, boasting 70,000 square feet of shop space.
"NTS Motorsports has made its mark on being a developmental race team, moving our up-and-coming drivers from series to series," Bob Newberry said. "Now, to have leaders Bruce Cook and Dan Deeringhoff and the veterans and icons of the sport Ron Hornaday and Kevin Harvick helping mentor Brennan, it really brings everything full circle."
ECHL hockey: Bulls top Condors, 4-1
Peter Sivak scored two goals for San Francisco as the host Bulls defeated the Bakersfield Condors 4-1 at the Cow Palace on Wednesday night.
Zach Cowen scored the lone goal for the Condors, with assists from Levi Nelson and Trevor Hendrikx.
Bakersfield goalie Scott Greenham made 30 saves.
The Condors next play Friday at 7 p.m. at the Ontario Reign. They then host Stockton on Sunday at 5 p.m.
