    South boys soccer rises again, wins second straight section title

    Brian Smith loves his players, and those kids love their coach right back. With Smith back on the sideline for just the second time since he took a medical leave of absence in December, the South High boys soccer team beat Porterville-Monache 2-0 at home Friday night for the Central Section Division II championship.

    The Rebels celebrated with their coach and a packed stadium. "I'm just so happy for the kids," Smith said. "This year, they've been through a lot with different things like injuries and me having to step away. With Mr. (Guillermo) Alvarado and David (Garcia) taking over.
