No. 21 UCI halts CSUB's win streak at 5 games

IRVINE -- Dominique Taylor's two-run homer highlighted a four-run third inning that helped No. 21 UC Irvine beat Cal State Bakersfield 6-1 Tuesday, ending the Roadrunners' five-game winning streak
Five Irvine pitchers limited the Roadrunners (8-4) to five hits. Taylor had two of UCI's six hits.
Cael Brockmeyer drove in CSUB's lone run with a first-inning single.
Irvine (11-2) added two runs in the the ninth on a ground-out and a passed ball.
Taylor Aikenhead (2-1) took the loss after going the first seven innings. He gave up five hits and struck out three.
CSUB opens a three-game series at UC Davis Friday.
Winning pitcher Brock Evans (1-0), the second of five UCI pitchers, allowed one hit and no earned runs in three innings.
