ONTARIO THIS TIME, ONTARIO ROOKIE GOALTENDER MIKE ZACHARIAS HAD AN ANSWER FOR THE CONDORS. ZACHARIAS STOPPED 33 SHOTS AS THE REIGN BLANKED THE CONDORS 3-0 SATURDAY NIGHT IN ONTARIO.
THE CONDORS HAD OWNED ZACHARIAS IN TWO PREVIOUS MEETINGS, HAVING BEATEN HIM 5-0 ON OPENING NIGHT AND CHASED HIM WITH FOUR GOALS IN JUST UNDER 26 MINUTES EN ROUTE TO AN 8-2 WIN OVER ONTARIO IN BAKERSFIELD ON WEDNESDAY NIGHT.
IT WAS THE SECOND STRAIGHT LOSS FOR THE CONDORS AND DROPPED THEM BACK TO .500 AT 4-4.
THE WINNING GOAL CAME 7:58 INTO THE GAME WHEN ADAM HENRICH REDIRECTED IN A POWER-PLAY GOAL. ROOKIE DWIGHT KING SCORED HIS FIRST PROFESSIONAL GOAL 3:24 INTO THE THIRD AND JON RHEAULT SCORED INTO AN EMPTY WITH ONE SECOND LEFT.
TIMO PIELMEIER STOPPED 21 SHOTS FOR THE CONDORS.
THE CONDORS WERE SKATING WITHOUT FORWARDS MATHIEU AUBIN AND MAXIME MACENAUER, WHO BOTH SUFFERED LOWER BODY INJURIES ON FRIDAY NIGHT.
AUBIN WAS PLACED ON 3-DAY INJURED RESERVE ON SATURDAY AND MACENAUER WAS PLACED ON 21-DAY IR.
"MACENAUER WILL BE OUT FOR QUITE A LENGTH OF TIME," CONDORS COACH MARTY RAYMOND SAID IN A PRE-GAME RADIO INTERVIEW. "I'LL WAIT UNTIL MONDAY BEFORE I SAY ANYTHING ELSE. AUBIN WILL BE OUT A LEAST A WEEK."
