Condors get late goal to tie, win in overtime

KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- Bakersfield scored with less than two minutes remaining in regulation and Peter Boyd provided the game-winner in overtime as the Condors defeated the Kalamazoo Wings 3-2 on Sunday at Wings Stadium.
Wings forward Nick Sirota rifled home a loose rebound to give Kalamazoo a 1-0 lead in the first period. Just before the break, forward Brett Lysak's shot from the slot beat Condors goalie Brian Stewart to make it 2-0 with 58 seconds left in the period.
After a scoreless second period, the comeback was on in the third period when Boyd snapped home a power-play goal to cut the lead to 2-1. Then, with Stewart pulled for an extra attacker on, right winger Francis Verreault took a feed from Boyd and beat Martin from the slot to tie the game at 2-2 with 1:15 left in regulation.
In overtime, the Condors received a power play late and made sure it did not go to waste. Defenseman Erik Burgdoerfer's wrist shot from the point was deflected in front by Boyd past Martin with just 30 seconds left in the extra session to give the Condors the win.
Bakersfield, which next plays in Las Vegas on Wednesday, went 1-2 on its three games in three days in three cities road trip.
