Tyler Brenner's two goals weren't enough for the Bakersfield Condors in a 6-3 loss to the host Idaho Steelheads on Wednesday night in Boise.
Brenner answered Idaho goals in the first and second periods before the Steelheads scored late in the second period and early in the third to take a 4-2 lead.
The Condors cut the deficit to 4-3 on an Alex Hudson goal midway through the final period, but Kael Mouillierat scored his third goal of the game to put Idaho ahead 5-3.
Bakersfield goalie Scott Greenham stopped 38 of 44 shots on the night. Idaho was 1-for-7 on the power play, while Bakersfield was 1-for-8.
The Condors play Idaho again in Boise on Friday and Saturday at 6:10 p.m. to conclude a six-game road trip.
Bakersfield returns to Rabobank Arena on Nov. 15 at 10:30 a.m. against Las Vegas.
Scott Gomez, who has scored 169 career NHL goals, is heading back to the Alaska Aces of the ECHL as the NHL lockout continues.
The Alaska native, who currently plays for the Montreal Canadiens, will make his debut when Alaska returns home next week to play the Colorado Eagles, the team announced Wednesday. Alaska next plays the Condors on Nov. 30, at 7 p.m at Rabobank Arena.
Gomez, 32, starred for the Aces during the 2004-05 lockout and claimed MVP honors in the ECHL after posting 13 goals and 73 assists in 61 games. He has 169 goals and 517 assists in 902 NHL games with New Jersey, the New York Rangers and Montreal.
