Forward Nicholas Tremblay and defenseman Jay Leach have been loaned to the Condors by their American Hockey League affiliate, the Oklahoma City Barons.
Tremblay joined the Condors as a rookie on Jan. 11 last season and scored 29 points (16 goals, 13 assists) in 29 games. Drafted in the sixth round by the Boston Bruins in the 2008 NHL entry draft, he led the Condors with seven multi-point games and had two six-game scoring streaks. He was signed by Oklahoma City this summer
"He's worthy of playing some games in the AHL this year but right now Oak City is healthy and they're better off having him down here playing," Condors coach Troy Mann said.
Tremblay is driving out from Buffalo and is not expected in Bakersfield until Saturday.
Leach, a rookie, was drafted by Calgary in the third round of the 2010 NHL draft and was signed by Oklahoma this summer.
"He's definitely the type of defenseman we're looking for," Mann said of Leach. "Big body (6-foot-2, 190 pounds), real strong. More of a defensive type of D-man. A left shot. We have a lot of right-shot D-men in camp. I'm sure he'll be the first call once an injury takes place up in (Oklahoma) City."
In other news, the Condors announced a new video webcast, Condors Unleashed, which will be streamed live from the Dignity Health Studios from noon-1 p.m. at The Bakersfield Californian every Wednesday and simulcast on Fox Sports Radio, 970 AM. The show, to be hosted by Kevin Bartl and Ryan Holt, will debut Oct. 16.
Also, once again all 72 regular-season games will be aired live on Fox Sports Radio.
