Local report: Grizzlies snap Condors' point streak

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- The Condors were good early and late but Utah was the better team for most of the game and came away with a 3-2 win on Friday night.

The victory moved Utah (16-16-3-4) four points ahead of the Condors (16-18-1-2) in the ECHL Western Conference.

The loss ended a four-game point streak for Bakersfield, which went 3-0-0-1 last week.

Defenseman George Hughes staked the Condors to a 1-0 lead 3:36 into the game but the Grizzlies scored the next three goals to take a commanding lead.

Michael Neal, back in the lineup after missing eight games due to injury, made the score close when he got his ninth goal with 36 seconds remaining.

Utah tied the game midway through the first when Jamie MacQueen scored. MacQueen made it 2-1 2:47 into the second and Danick Paquette scored the game winner late in the period.

Laurent Brossoit stopped 33 of 36 shots in taking the loss.

Bakersfield was 0 for 6 on the power play with Utah going 0 for 5.

The Grizzlies are 6-0-3 in their last nine home games.

Despite 32 points from Archie Goodwin, the Bakersfield Jam couldn't keep pace with the Sioux Falls Skyforce in a 114-97 loss at home on Friday.

Deandre Liggins led the Skyforce (15-8) with 24 points, and was followed by Tre Kelley with 23 and Justin Hamilton with 21.

Mac Koshwal was second for the Jam with 16 points off the bench.

Bakersfield outrebounded Sioux Falls 47-40 in the game.

The Jam (10-15), though, struggled from the field, shooting 39.8 percent (33 for 83.)
