Condors rally, but fall short against Aces
By The Bakersfield Californian
A furious Bakersfield rally over the final 21â2 minutes came up short as the Alaska Ace beat the Condors 4-3 on Sunday night at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage.
The Aces (35-14-2-4) opened up a 4-0 lead before Tyler Helfrich scored a power play goal with 2:28 remaining.
Goaltender Matt Keetlley was pulled for an extra attacker and Evan Trupp made it 4-2 with 40 seconds left. Kyle Calder scored with 25 seconds left.
The Condors (14-34-4-1) went on the power play at that point, and with Keetley still pulled, had a two-man advantage for the final seconds but could not get the equalizer.
The loss was the second straight for Bakersfield after four straight wins.
Parker Stanfield's six-game point streak came to an end.
Kane Lafrancise scored a power play goal 18:25 of the first period for the Aces and Chris Langkow made it 2-0 midway through the second. Bryan Miller and Nick Mazzolini had third-period goals.
The Condors were outshot 33-19.
