Condors suffer 7th straight loss

By THE BAKERSFIELD CALIFORNIAN

The Bakersfield Condors scored the first and last goal of the night, but in between, the Stockton Thunder scored four en route to a 4-2 win Thursday night at Rabobank Arena, handing the Condors their seventh straight loss.

With just over five minutes remaining in the opening period, forward David Toews banged in a rebound off a shot from Liam Huculak to make it 1-0.

However, within 60 seconds, Bakersfield took two penalties to provide the Thunder with a 5-on-3 power play. Stockton promptly converted on both to take a 2-1 lead.

In an evenly-matched second period, Stockton scored the only goal when defenseman Teigan Zahn punched in his third goal of the season at 7:51 to make it 3-1.

Stockton added some insurance early in the third, with Phil Mangan's goal just 1:50 in.

Bakersfield pulled back within two at 8:09, with center Levi Nelson netting his team-leading ninth goal of the season. The Condors had a pair of late power plays, but could not convert.

Notes

Defenseman Olivier Dame-Malka returned to the lineup for the first time since sustaining an injury in Stockton on Dec. 1 ...Toews scored his first goal since Oct. 13.

The Condors host Stockton tonight, which features a Voodoo Doll Giveaway, sponsored by My 45 and 97.3 JACK FM. The first 2,000 fans 5 and older will get a voodoo doll, so the fans can help inflict some pain on the Condors opposition.
