Condors can't overcome poor start against Reign

ONTARIO -- Two first-period goals in the span of 46 seconds propelled the Ontario Reign to a 2-1 victory over the Condors on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena.

The victory was the fifth straight for the Reign, which improved to 10-1-4.

The Condors (2-11-1) are 2-18-3 against the Reign since March 30, 2011.

Michael Neal scored a power play goal 7:34 into the third period to cut Ontario's lead in half.

The Condors had two more power plays, the first with 13 minutes left and the last with under three minutes to play but could not get the equalizer.

Bakersfield has lost three of its last four games by a goal.

Jake Newton started the scoring for Ontario 7:31 into the first period and Everett Sheen made it 2-0 just 46 seconds later.

Chet Pickard stopped 19 shots in the loss for Bakersfield while Michael Hutchinson stopped 20 shots for the Reign.

The two teams play again tonight at 6.
