Condors can't hold lead, fall in shootout to Idaho
By The Bakersfield Californian
BOISE, Idaho -- Olivier Dame-Malka had a season-high three points with a goal and two assists, but the Bakersfield Condors relinquished a two-goal, third period lead and fell to the Idaho Steelheads in a shootout, 5-4 Saturday night at CenturyLink Arena.
Neither team found the scoreboard in the first period as the Condors had the only full power play of the frame which was unsuccessful. Brian Stewart made an early point blank save on Jacob Cepis, but was not tested much after that as the Condors outshot Idaho, 16-7.
A strong start to the second period led to two quick goals from the Condors. First, Dame-Malka fired a shot from inside the circles on a 4-on-3 power play to put Bakersfield in front 1-0 at the 1:12 mark. Dame-Malka had a hand in the team's second goal as well when his blast from the left point was deflected home by Jacob Lagace four minutes later to give the Condors a 2-0.
But Idaho's Austin Fyten scored at 13:21 and Kael Mouillierat at 15:45 tied the game at 2-2.
