Report: NHL's Oilers set to buy Condors

A story posted late Tuesday night on the Edmonton Sun website stated the Edmonton Oilers are poised to announce the purchase of the Bakersfield Condors.

Condors president Mathew Riley could not be reached for comment. Vice President of Communications Kevin Bartl gave a "no comment" in a text message.

The Condors became the ECHL, or AA, affiliate of the Oilers this season.

The Condors have been owned by Jonathan Fleisig, a Wall Street trader, for all 16 years of their existence. Prior to his purchase, the team was known as the Fog for three seasons.
