Shuffling the deck in a last-ditch effort to make the playoffs while looking to the future, the Condors made a major move on Thursday, trading four players to four different teams.
Forward Peter Boyd was traded to Alaska for a pair of player and forward Evan Trupp was sent to South Carolina for two players. In addition, forward Daniel Koger was sent to Florida for futures, defenseman Frnacs Meilleur was dealt to Las Vegas for futures and the rights to David Walker were traded to Ontario for futures.
Condors coach Matt O'Dette said both Trupp and Boyd came to him and asked if they could be moved.
“We wanted to shuffle the deck anyway, we're not winning with the group we have and this was the last day to make trades,” O”Dette said. “We get fresh faces and hungry players and they get a fresh start.”
All of the players coming to the Condors are rookies.
The Condors acquired forward Shawn Skelly and defenseman Chris Haltigan from the Aces and forward Phil Mamgan and defenseman Art Bidevski from South Carolina.
“We feel like we've improved out D and got some help up front at the same time,” O'Dette said.
O'Dette said he the two players from Alaska should be in the lineup on Friday night against Ontario and was hopeful both South Carolina players would be in town in time for the game.
