Condors fodder for ECHL award winners
By The Bakersfield Californian
The Condors had a helping hand in both ECHL player awards this week.
San Francisco’s Thomas Heemskerk was named Goaltender of the Week while Ontarios’ C.J. Stretch earned Player of the Week honors.
Stretch cemented his award with four goals and an assist against the Condors in a 7-3 win on Saturday night. His four goals and five points tied the Reign’s single-game club records and his plus-five rating tied the ECHL season high. He had just one assist in his other game last week.
Heemskerk was in net for San Fran (I know those in the City hate that usage but I don’t care) last Tuesday, making 16 saves in a 4-2 win. He then stopped 28 shots in a 6-1 victory against Ontario on Friday and closed the week with 34 saves in a 6-3 win over Stockton on Saturday.
