Condors fans, players won't be seeing double
By The Bakersfield Californian
Power forward Jesse Gimblett, twin brother of Condors defenseman, Tyson, has decided not to join the Condors and will be playing in England. Gimblett played for the Condors last season (37 points and 138 penalty minutes in 59 games) and Condors coach Matt O’Dette expected that he would return to the team this month after finishing up a final semester of college in Canada.
“I found out last week and as soon as the words were out of his mouth I moved on,” O’Dette said. “:ust another day at the office. You just take it in stride and move on. That was part of the reason we got (Brett) Lyon. We’ve got a young, hungry kid in that spot now.”
Lyon registered his first two pro assists in Sunday’s 4-1 win over Stockton but O’Dette acknowledged he does not have the offensive upside of Gimblett.
“He may not have the hands and scoring skills but as far as toughness and presence he’ll bring the same level if not more because he is younger and hungrier,” O’Dette said.
