4 of 4Bryson Hopfe of Bakersfield won the 200-mile Mojave Off Road Enthusiasts final race of the year at Barstow to clinch a points championship in the 1400 (mini truck) class, which allows unlimited suspension and engine size. The victory was the first of the season for Hopfe, who was in his first full season of racing. Hopfe's truck is a 1988 Ford Ranger with a Ford 4.6 V8 engine. The final race had 12 trucks in the class. Throughout the season the class had as many as 25 entries.

The Kern County Rugby Football Club rallied in the second half Sunday for a 30-24 victory over host Riverside.
A penalty kick by Marcus Felix gave Kern County a 25-24 lead with seven minutes left, and Zack Brown scored the final try in the final minutes for the final margin.
In the first half, Billy Ross scored for a 7-5 lead; Wicus Postma scored for a 12-5 lead, Garet Brown made a dive over the try line for a 17-12 lead, and Ross added another score for Kern's biggest lead, 22-12.
