Steve Baron had two hits and two RBIs and Mike McGee had a solo home run to lead the High Desert Mavericks to a 9-3 victory over the Bakersfield Blaze in a California League baseball game at Mavericks Stadium.
McGee's homer highlighted a five-run fourth inning for High Desert (11-10), which swept the three-game set and extended Bakersfield's losing streak to five. McGee also drew four bases on balls.
Marquez Smith hit his second homer in two nights for Bakersfield, which also got a solo shot from Kyle Waldrop.
Juan Silverio extended his hitting streak to 11 games for the Blaze. With a single and double, he was the only Bakersfield player with multiple hits.
The Blaze turned four double plays and committed one error.
Losing pitcher Tanner Robles (0-4) allowed four earned runs on seven hits in four innings.
Winner Trevor Miller held Bakersfield to three earned runs in six innings. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.
Bakersfield (5-16) begins a three-game home series at 7:15 tonight against the Visalia Rawhide at Sam Lynn Ball Park.
