Behind yet another record-breaking performance, Clovis Swim Club took first overall to close out a successful Central California Junior Olympics Swimming Championships at Bakersfield College on Monday.

Clovis set the record in the girls 13-14 year-old 400 freestyle relay. Skylar Elkington, Savannah Fitzgerald, Caitlyn Snyder and Stephanie Bartel finished in 3:38.48, breaking the old record of 3:41.84.

The Clovis girls broke records in all five relays that they competed in.

"Most of these girls have swam 19 times in the last three days, so this last relay can be pretty tough," said Clovis Swim Club coach An Baxter, who was an Olympic Swimmer in 1972. "I'm very proud of them because they put it all together."

On the final day, Bakersfield Aquatics' Aiden Pike got second in the 200 medley with 2:00.99 and was awarded the high-point award for the 15-18 boys division. Abbey Vodka got second in the 200 medley with a 2:17.80 for the 13-14 age group.

For Roadrunner Aquatics, Isabella Garcia took first in the 200 medley with 2:25.48, and third in the 100 freestyle with 1:01.09 in the girls 10-and-under division. Constanze Moseley, who received the high point award for the girls 15-18 section, also won in the 100 freestyle with :50.03.

"I'm so pleased," said Tina Cummings, aquatic director for Bakersfield. "I think we had over 700 swimmers last year and this year we had 936 swimmers in the meet from all over. To have this here it kind of showcases this facility here in Bakersfield College because this is by far the best aquatic facility in Bakersfield."
