Two records for the Clovis Swim Club highlighted a busy third day of the Central California Junior Olympics Swimming Championships at Bakersfield College on Sunday.

The marks were set in both relays in the girls 13-14 year-old age group.

In the 200 freestyle relay, Stephanie Bartel, Savannah Fitzgerald, Skylar Elkington and Caitlyn Snyder finished in 1:38.75 to break the old record of 1:40.2, which had stood for more than 30 years.

In the 400 medley relay, Bartel, Olivia Johnson, Elkington and Snyder shattered the old mark of 4:08.76, finishing in 4:00.46.

"It was pretty cool," said Snyder, who also got first in the 200 breaststroke (2:26.52). "It's kind of easy to break it with a family because we're all very close and we're all best friends. I knew when my teammate was going to touch that I had to 25 seconds or lower in the (200 freestyle relay), and I went 24 so that was pretty good.

"I was pretty tired so I looked at the board and I was like 'Oh OK we won' and everyone was so happy, but I was so tired that I couldn't scream. It was exciting though."

Bartel added, "We're really hoping to continue to break records. Tomorrow we have one more so hopefully we can break that one, too."

Both the Bakersfield Aquatics Club and Roadrunner Aquatics continued to find success on Sunday.

For Bakersfield Aquatics Club, Aiden Pike took first in the boys 15-18 age 100 backstroke in 53 seconds. Jom Sontamino finished third in :53.97.

The 11-12 boys 200 freestyle relay team finished first in 1:46.7. Wyatt Suburu finished fourth in the 13-14 boys 500 freestyle with 5:13.78 and Chris Feola finished fifth in the 11-12 boys 50 freestyle with a 26.95.

Constanze Moseley from the Roadrunner Aquatics had another big day with three victories in the girls 15-18 division. Moseley won the 50 freestyle in :23.19, the 100 backstroke in 56.42 and 500 freestyle with a 4:54.71.

Isabella Garcia also had multiple first-place victories in the 10-and-under division, winning the 100 backstroke in 1:10.5 and 50 backstroke with a 36.60.

The 15-18 girls 200 relay team also took first with a 1:39.44.

The meet resumes at 9 a.m. today.
