6 of 7Five boys (pictured, l-r) from Bakersfield will be representing Southern California this weekend playing with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) in Ventura: Defender Roberto Ramirez, midfielders Joe Blancarte, Luke Tovar and Carson Olivas, and goalie John Pulskamp. Their team will play against teams from Washington, Texas, Colorado, and Northern California. These players, who are coached in Bakersfield by Ray Sanders, were chosen out of 110 players from Southern California to attend the Memorial Day tournament.

Arvin City Amateur Championship, May 26-27, Sycamore Canyon Golf Course. Entry is $90 and includes a Friday practice round after 1 p.m. Championship/handicapped flights.
