Allen, Klimesh lead Blaze past Lake Elsinore, 2-0

LAKE ELSINORE -- James Allen held Lake Elsinore scoreless through 6-2/3 innings and reliever Ben Klimesh held the Storm scoreless over the final 2-1/3 on Friday as the Bakersfield Blaze won 2-0 in a California League baseball game at The Diamond.

Juan Silva went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Steve Selsky had a triple and drove in the other run for Bakersfield.

Juan Silverio and Kyle Waldrop added two hits apiece for the Blaze. Waldrop and Ryan Wright scored the only runs.

Allen (6-7) struck out six and allowed only three hits and one walk.

Kilmesh allowed two hits, struck out one and earned his first save of the season.

SoCal silences Sound

Starter Derek Reckmann pitched seven scoreless innings and relievers Mason Mostejo and Jonathan Knapp pitched a scoreless inning apiece to lead the SoCal Catch to a 2-0 victory Thursday over the Bakersfield Sound in a California Collegiate League summer baseball game at Whittier College.

On Friday, the Catch beat the Sound 12-1 at Bakersfield Christian High School.

Bubby Rossman had a solo home run in the game for Bakersfield.
