    Bakersfield's 6th grade NJB all-star basketball team went 4-1 and placed third in the national division II tournament in the NJB nationall all-star tournament in Anaheim.

    The American Kids Sports Center's Level 4 boys gymnastics team placed third at the state championships March Saturday in Orange County. Team members: Max Morelos, Dominic Banducci, Jack Parks, Braydon Bottoms, Isaiah Velasquez, Hudson Sheats, Sabastian Jara, Kelechi Anucha, Carson Ming, Nathan Jarvis, Lance Scott, Matthew Hall, Nolan Hernandez, Trey Letzkus, and Daniel Bartel. They are coached by Sean Farrell and Hayden DaMant.

    Results of American Academy's level 7 gymnastics team of Karlee Taylor, Dalilia Olivera, Cailtyn Lowery and Natalie Roberts earned top-25 placing in the state championships at Ventura. In the first session, Taylor posted a season-high score of 37.375 while placing third on the vault. Olivera posted consistent scores throughout the meet to aid her team to its season high-team score. In the second session, Lowery posted her highest all around (9.575) on the beam. Natalie Roberts competed in the third session posting a 9.475 on floor for fourth place.

    American Kids Sports Center's Level 8 gymnastics team placed fifth March 7 at the Byers Invitational in Sacramento. The team consisted of Sarah-Taylor, Alexa Schacher and Datiah Towns. Sarah-Taylor posted the highest score on vault (9.425), was second on bars and in the all around. Alexa Schacher posted the 4th highest scores on the floor and bars. Towns posted consistent scores throughout the meet to help the team's overall score. Kyra Sales sat out this meet due to a knee injury.

    Perfect 10 Gymnastics qualified three athletes to the Region 1 Boys Championships April 10-13, 2014 in Phoenix. Maxx McCabe level 10 (15-16) qualified with an 8th place all-around score of 74.65 at the State Championships in Aliso Viejo March 20-22. Dillon Kerr of level 5 (7-8) qualified with an all-around score of 59.4. Aiden Roberson, level 5 (9-10), qualified with an all-around score of 58.75. The team is coached by Dean Archie and Josh Archie.

The Bakersfield Jam will be holding Basketball Camps on May 3-4 and May 17-18 for boys and girls ages 6-18. The camp will be conducted at the Dignity Health Events Center, the Jam's home facility, with some of its coaches who train Jam players during the season and have trained current NBA players. Bakersfield Christian High School a spring camp for boys grades 2-8. Camp is 9 a.m.-noon April 14-17. Boys basketball coach Brian Dignan directs the camp, which will focus on teaching fundamentals, as well as individual and team competitions. Tehachapi Mountain Search and Rescue's 6th Annual Sporting Clay Shoot is set for 9 a.m. April 26 at the Kern County Gun Club, 12450 Shotgun Rd., in Bakersfield. The cost is $80 for individuals and $320 for the teams. The event is open to men, women and youth shooters. Each entry will include lunch, soda and two raffle tickets, one for a firearm and one raffle ticket for other items (to be announced at lunch).
