Hockey : The Bakersfield Dragons Squirts Beat the Leafs
The Bakersfield Dragons Squirts beat the Pasadena Maple Leafs at home Sunday at home with a final score of 5-0. Goalie Harrison Kootstra got the shut-out. Corbin Heitman scored for the Dragons, Matthew Perri netted his 21st goal of the season, and Jacob Clanahan got his third hat-trick of the year.
“I was skating down the ice as fast as I could and I shot it top shelf,” Clanahan described one of his goals. “The other one, I just shot it and it hit the goalie’s stick and it just flew up. It felt pretty good,” the second-year Squirt added.
Defenseman Gus Hughes said he is proud of the way his team played. “I thought we played hard and we had a lot of nice goals and the defense played really hard.”
The Dragons Squirts are 6-2 in regular season play. They travel to Simi Valley over the Thanksgiving holiday to take part in the Turkey Carver Classic tournament.
