Local report: Friday's Taft events postponed

Taft High School has indefinitely postponed all athletic events scheduled for today in light of Thursday's shooting at the school.
Taft was scheduled to play Wasco in four sports: girls basketball and girls soccer in Taft, and boys basketball and boys soccer in Wasco. Athletic director Marsha Eubank said the schools planned to make up the games but that no date had yet been determined.
Taft had no events scheduled Thursday. Eubank said the next events on the calendar, scheduled for Tuesday, will be held as scheduled.
Rugby opener, clinic set for Saturday

The Kern County Rugby Football Club will host the Santa Barbara Grunions in their first league match at 1 p.m. Saturday at Standard Park in Oildale.
Prior to the match, there will be a free non-contact youth rugby clinic for ages 6-15 and their parents. The clinic will start at 10:30 a.m. at Standard.
The clinic will include beginners rugby skills training and a game of two-hand touch rugby, and will be followed by a hot dog feed, and then the men's match. There is no admission charge for the match.
Rugby 7s will be included as a medal sport in the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Suns assign rookie guard Garrett to Jam
The Phoenix Suns assigned rookie guard Diante Garrett to the Bakersfield Jam.
Garrett (6-4, 190, Iowa State) has appeared in six games for the Suns this season, scoring five points and dishing out seven assists in 30 minutes.
The Jam will host the Los Angeles D-Fenders at 7 p.m. today.
