Qualifying is over for both the 2013 California State Amateur and 2013 U.S. Open and the results for our local players were unfortunately not good.
Rich Gilkey is the lone qualifier for the State Amateur finals in Monterey June 17-22. Gilkey played his way to medalist honors at the Rancho Murietta CC North Course with a 5-under-par 67. Gilkey beat the field by two shots where it took a 7-way playoff at 71 for the last two of five qualifying berths.
In U.S. Open local qualifying, pro Stephen Hale (Garces/Cal) shot a 3-under-par 69 at Indian Ridge CC in Palm Desert to advance into Sectional Qualifying on June 3. It is not known at this time where Hale will be participating for his sectional.
