    April 17 fish report

    By The Bakersfield Californian
    Thursday, Apr 16 2015 04:52 PM

Kern County, southern San Joaquin Valley LAKE ISABELLA: Slow overall fishing. Wind and wildly changing weather conditions have slowed all the bites to nothing here. Catfish are the best bet with a fair number showing on clams, minnows, and nightcrawlers. Also still a few trout being landed, but the bass and bluegill bites slowed way down. Crappie bite slowed. DFW trout plant last week.

KERN RIVER: Fair trout action with plants this week in all six sections of the lower and upper river. Sections 4-6 were planted last week. The hatchery rainbows are best on salmon eggs and crickets, while the wild trout are showing in decent numbers for fly anglers, especially in the upper river. Low flows above and below the lake.
