    Oct. 31 fish report

    By The Bakersfield Californian
    Thursday, Oct 30 2014 05:12 PM

Kern County, southern San Joaquin Valley LAKE ISABELLA: Catfish bite fair to good. The fish remain in 15-feet of water or more and the bite is best on garlic shrimp, chicken liver, shad, nightcrawlers, and some of the prepared baits. Top spots have been Red's Marina, Paradise Cove, or French Gulch. Most of the fish are still nice two to four-pound class fish. The crappie action has muddled along in the trees in the North Fork in 16 to 20 feet of water on small minnows and crappie jigs, but only gets a slow to fair rating. Other species slow. Carp anglers are doing pretty fair on homemade dough baits and Powder Bait. Lake level at about nine percent of capacity.

KERN RIVER: The bite has been pretty good on the upper river for planted...
