    Kern County, southern San Joaquin Valley LAKE ISABELLA: Light fishing pressure, but the catfish bite continues to provide good action. There has also been a surprising crappie bite. Other species slow.

    KERN RIVER: Upper river has been slow for bait and lure anglers, with no plants in over a month. The fly anglers are doing fair on wild fish, with the action progressively better further upstream. Some decent evening caddis hatches. In the lower river flows are very low, but the smallmouth and largemouth bass have been pretty good. The catfish bite has also been pretty good.
