New coaches named at Bakersfield College

Christie Hill and Brett Clark had standout collegiate athletic careers in Bakersfield.

Now they'll tackle head coaching jobs at Bakersfield College.

Hill and Clark are among several new coaches who have been hired by BC this summer.

Hill, a Delano High graduate who spent last season as the pitching coach at Texas-San Antonio University, is BC's new softball head coach.

Clark, a Bakersfield High graduate and former standout wrestler at BC, will join with another ex-BC wrestler, Marcos Austin, to oversee the Renegades' wrestling program.

Those appointments, along with other coaching hires, were announced by BC's interim athletic director Sandi Taylor.

Clark, a one-time assistant coach for former BC wrestling coach Bill Kalivas, was Mira Monte High School's head football and head wrestling coach. Austin has helped Kalivas in recent seasons, Taylor said. Clark remains a teacher at Mira Monte but is no longer coaching there, Taylor said.

Nick Jacobs and Estefania Limpias are the new tennis coaches and Brittney Goehring is the new women's golf coach.

Bob Paillet, who has been the women's golf coach, is now the men's head golf coach.

All of the new head coaches are considered adjunct faculty and will not be teaching in the physical education department, Taylor said.

Jacobs and Goehring are former BC athletes. Jacobs, who also played tennis at Cal Lutheran, and Limpias, a former CSUB player, both work at Stockdale Country Club, said Taylor, adding that Goehring played golf at Cal State San Marcos after leaving BC.

Hill was a four-time all-conference player at CSUB. She concluded her career there just before CSUB's move to NCAA Division I status. She holds multiple career and single-season records at CSUB.

Other fall sports head coaches remain the same: Jeff Chudy in football, Carl Ferreira in volleyball, Scott Dameron in women's soccer and Dave Frickel in men's and women's cross country. Frickel is assisted by Pam Kelley. In track, Kelley is the head coach and Frickel the assistant, Taylor said.

"The coaching staff is complete for this year, other than some assistant coaches that might come on," Taylor said. "We're in good shape with our staffing."
