Local report: Goodvin finishes 17th in Sacramento Invite

ELK GROVE -- In his highest individual finish of the season, Cal State Bakersfield junior Chase Goodvin tied for 17th after shooting a 4-over 218 (70-70-78) to lead the Roadrunner men's golf team Tuesday at the Sacramento State Invitational at Valley Hi Country Club.
Goodvin, who finished Monday's 36 holes at 4-under after carding five birdies, fell from a tie for third to a tie for 17th after shooting a 6-over 78 in Tuesday's final round.
Senior Matt Hammons posted the lowest round for the 'Runners on Tuesday with an even-par 72 to help him finish in a tie for 30th with a 5-over 221 (78-71-72).
The Roadroaders finished in 11th place in the team standings in the 14-team field with a 32-over 896 (300-292-304).
CSUB senior Patrick Bell finished in a tie for 54th place with a 12-over 228, while fellow senior Daniel Richardson tied for 60th after posting a 13-over 229 (76-77-76).
JC softball
SYLMAR -- Kelsey Best had a two-run double in the first inning to give BC (2-13, 1-2) an aearly lead, but L.A. Mission (12-8, 3-0) rallied for a 6-3 victory in Western State Conference Blue division play.
The Renegades play a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. Thursday at College of the Canyons.
